And For My Next Steampunk Challenge…

You already know how much I love making steampunk light-up insect jewellery. There is something magical about blending vintage brass, glowing lights, and natural shapes. Lately, though, I have been obsessed with a new goal: adding actual movement to my pieces.

I recently built a basic prototype for a light-up butterfly, and it got me thinking. My original plan was to build a full-scale sculpture that both moves and lights up. Honestly? It feels like a massive mountain to climb right now.

Then, I had a wild thought.

What if, instead of going bigger, I went smaller? What if I could shrink the entire mechanical movement down and turn it into a wearable brooch?

Imagine a beautifully detailed steampunk butterfly pinned to your jacket, its wings gently moving while soft light glows from within. How cool would that be?

I am still a long way off from making this a reality. Shrinking gears, wires, and power sources into something light enough to wear is going to take a lot of trial and error. But to me, the challenge is half the fun.
