The Double-Edged Sword of Going Viral
In the past few weeks, a few of my posts on TikTok and Instagram have gone viral. It’s been a whirlwind - the notifications, the comments, the messages, the cha-chingsfrom sales rolling in. It’s exciting, surreal, and honestly, a little overwhelming.
I always try to reply to every comment and message because, at the end of the day, I wouldn’t be in that position without the people who liked, shared, and supported my work. It feels only courteous to take the time to connect with them. Those little interactions are what make this whole creative journey feel real and human.
But here’s the thing… going viral is a double-edged sword. While it’s amazing to see your work reach thousands (or even millions) of people, it never lasts. The buzz fades, the algorithm moves on, and suddenly you’re left wondering, what was it about that post that made it take off?
I find myself overanalysing every detail; the caption, the timing, the hashtags, the music - trying to decode the magic formula. But the truth is, there isn’t one. Sometimes it’s just the right post at the right time.
What I’ve learned is that going viral isn’t the goal. The real magic is in the connection, the consistency, and the courage to keep showing up - even when the numbers aren’t soaring. Because those moments of virality might come and go, but the community you build along the way is what truly lasts.
